Of the main drag- in a great way
“Hotel is darling- lovely quaint design and on a great stretch of the beach in Tulum that is quieter than the main drag. The design is innovative. It’s indoor/outdoor and lovely. The restaurant is charming- with great food- totally worth eating at if you visit Tulum- especially if they have a live singer. Highly recommend checking it out on your stop in Tulum- especially for a date night.”
Paradise on the rocks
“We’ve just completed a six day stay at Mi Amor in Tulum. There are few words to adequately describe the experience of staying at this small boutique hotel. With only eighteen guest rooms and what seems to be a pretty high staff-to-guest ratio, it’s easy to see how each guest is made to feel very special during a stay at Mi Amor. Except that “special” seems like an understatement. The staff at Mi Amor is exceptional. They are genuinely kind and caring and they made our experience at Mi Amor one that we will not soon forget. We’ve stayed at top hotels in many cities… none compare to the experience at Mi Amor.
The restaurant manager, Ryka and her staff are top notch. My husband and I are grateful to Mercedes, Giovanni, Edwin, Hugo, Raul and Brisa (bartender extraordinaire) for making each dining experience memorable.
And in the spa, Karina and Tai were wonderful technicians during our romantic three-part spa treatment. Highly recommend!
If you’re planning a trip to Tulum, Mi Amor is a must visit. Jacqueline and her team have created a special little paradise on the rocks (note, Mi Amor has no beach access, but is oceanfront) at Mi Amor.
Hasta la vista, Mi Amor. We will see you again.
Note: we had a partial sea view room, #7, and we recommend it for its privacy and quiet.”
Fall in love with Mi Amor
“Hard not to fall in love with this beautiful hotel! Spent five nights here with my wife after visiting Mexico City. This boutique hotel has a very intimate and relaxing ambience. Staff and management couldn’t have made us feel more welcome and I don’t think you will find this level of service anywhere else. Special thanks to Dominique and Simon at concierge, the wonderful staff of servers (Edwin, Fernando, Grass and Alberto), and of course the person responsible for it all, Jacqueline. They truly went above and beyond to make sure we felt truly pampered and at home.
The food and drinks here are absolutely amazing! Everything from breakfast to dinner and dessert was truly delicious. Breakfast is provided for and is definitely a nice perk.
The hotel property itself is really wonderful and picturesque. The setting is scenic and relaxing and is truly a place you want to come to unwind. I think the pictures speak for themselves.
The rooms were well kept and tidy. AC in the rooms was a huge perk as it is a rare find in Tulum. We went with a standard pool side room with no plunge pool but I would strongly recommend that you consider upgrading as I think that would have made the experience that much better.
The highlight of our stay had to be one of the events that management arranged for guests on Wednesday which was a one hour mixology class. This was truly wonderful as we got to mingle and meet other couples and friends who were staying at the hotel and it was truly a blast.
All of the positives completely overshadow any of the following which some people may consider drawbacks but nonetheless I think some are worth mentioning: 1) this hotel is a bit retreated from the strip where most of the boutiques and restaurants in Tulum are located but this is definitely not a bad thing. As I mentioned earlier, this is the perfect place to unwind and I am actually glad that the hotel was located where it was. A taxi into the “town” is only a 5-10 minute ride. During the day, bikes are also an option and can be rented for the day at the hotel. 2) no TV in our room :(. I was a bit disappointed by this at first but ultimately came to the realization that this was part of the experience and what made this stay feel intimate and special. You’re really here to unwind. Nonetheless, some people may have special preferences when it comes to this and might want to know this beforehand. 3) this is a quiet hotel. Personally, I wouldn’t change a thing, but something to keep in mind for anyone looking for a livelier vibe.
By the end of your stay, I can guarantee that you will fall in love with Mi Amor and will not be disappointed. I won’t think twice about where to stay next time I visit Tulum which I’m hoping will be not too far in the future.”
“We decided to try Mi Amor for our anniversary trip since it was adults only. We were thrilled how small, quiet and romantic it was. The service was exceptional. The private “on the rocks” cabanas were perfect for enjoying a day on the beach. I’m normally a lay by the pool person but the rocks had a great breeze and privacy.
The food was every bit as good as the high end playa and Cancun resorts (same level as the Ritz, Mayakoba, etc). The food prices were also lower without sacrificing quality.
Our room was a partial sea view with a plunge pool. It was spacious and well appointed. The staff kept a plenty of drinking water stocked in our room.
The staff was always friendly and happy to answer any questions. We’ll definitely be returning in the near future!”
“This is a very small, beautifully designed, chic hotel. Since there’s only 17 rooms, it feels very exclusive, and private. There were certain times when it felt like the entire hotel was ours alone. Here’s what I absolutely loved: the daybeds that sit on the rocks, there’s no beach to speak of, but spending a few hours on those beds was magical. I loved the aesthetics and vibe of the place – serene and posh. I loved the restaurant – both the cocktails and the food (breakfast and dinner) were creative and delicious. I loved the customer service, everyone was really nice and friendly, and I loved coming home to dark chocolate and a thermos of tea, which was a surprise. The one negative for us was the “pool” – it’s more pretty than functional. In fact, we didn’t really see anyone using it, with the exception of an attractive couple doing a mini photo shoot. It’s small and shaded, so was quite cold, and it doesn’t have seating around it. The actual room (pool facing) fell slightly below my high expectations, it was nice, but not as chic or romantic as I had hoped. All in all, we had a great experience, but it was also a really expensive experience, so I’ll probably try something else next time. However, I would seriously consider coming back for a dinner!”
Beautiful, romantic, relaxed with fantastic sincere service
“Perfect place for a relaxed vacation. Few things are better than waking up early, and reading while having breakfast at the restaurant overlooking the water. Fantastic people that work there – they are genuinely friendly and warm. It also is in the archaeological zone so it is a bit quieter than on the main strip.”
Amazing Romantic Vacation
“We’ve been around the world and to some of the best resorts large to small and Mi Amor in Tulum has been the best romantic vacation experience my wife and I have ever had! The staff are so friendly, cheerful and genuine people, they have done everything possible to make our experience one that we will never forget. From romantic meals at their wonderful French restaurant with a variety of yummy menu selections, quiet oceanfront cabanas, perfectly kept rooms and romantic couples massage we were here for a week and just felt so at home. We will miss everyone here! Simon’s friendly introduction to this 18 room gem started it off wonderfully with a unique flavorful beverage, Brisa made our breakfasts so yummy and she was awesome company for my wife and I to talk with as we enjoyed our meals.
We will be back and look forward to seeing everyone at the best most romantic place on earth again soon, until then we will miss you all 😀”
“This was our first trip to Mexico and after a 30 hour transit from Australia, arriving to Mi Amore was a total dream. All the small details from the delightful welcome drinks and comfy beds, to the bottle of champagne they gifted us for our honeymoon!
All the staff are so amazing and we would like to give a special shout out to Mario on the front desk and Alberto in the restaurant! Thank you for helping me learn some Spanish phrases and for being so genuine and friendly, you made our stay very special.
Would highly recommend this place for a special romantic stay for couples. This is a place We will never forget. Thank you 🙏”
Slice of Paradise
“I just returned from my second stay at Mi Amor, and yet again it did not disappoint. The hotel is situated in the Archeological Zone, which is much quieter than the main “Playa” strip. It’s a short bike ride (approx 1-2 miles) from the other hotels, shops, and restaurants, so just far enough to enjoy the quiet. There is no actual “beach” access directly from the hotel, but it’s about a 2 mile walk to the sand. The hotel grounds are meticulously kept and the ocean pops against the green grass, lush flowers, and ocean rocks. The ocean side cabanas are amazing, and offer some of the best sunrises around.
The main reason I love Mi Amor (besides the amazing location, delicious breakfast, and ocean views) is the service. Everyone at the hotel is kind, courteous, and extremely friendly. I mean everyone; from the parking attendant who walks you up to the lobby, to the groundskeepers who always flash you a smile, to waitstaff who remember your coffee and cocktail orders, to the concierge who will handle any request. When my partner and I arrived, we received complementary drinks and a tour of the grounds and our room. Since it was our second visit, the team surprised us with a complementary bottle of Prosecco. Simon, Mario, and Jaqueline always went out of their way to ensure all of our needs were met, including helping us with making dinner reservations at a few local restaurants. Shout out to Felicio, who always attended to our plunge pool.
The rooms are large and beautiful and smell AMAZING, one of my favorite parts of the day is turndown service, enjoying a cup of tea and a chocolate.
If you’re looking for a quiet retreat with incredible views, this is the place to stay.”
“Mi Amor is a beautiful, picturesque hotel that will dazzle you. The staff is incredible, the views are astonishing, the spa is sublime, the food is delicious. If you are looking for a quant, quite, and lavish experience in Tulum, I couldn’t recommend Mi Amor more.”
Absolutely beautiful and relaxing
“From the minute that the front desk welcomed us by bringing our bags up the steps and asking us if we wanted their signature welcome drink, we were sold. Tulum itself is absolutely wonderful– but waking up each morning to the view of the infinity pool that looked as if it extended into the ocean was breathtaking. The staff was also fantastic. Every morning we took advantage of the fresh, delicious breakfast (included in your stay) and were treated incredibly by Raul and Grass. Raul was such a consummate host– he remembered our names throughout the trip and checked in on us when we were at the daybeds (so peaceful) or having our breakfast. We were also able to rent bikes from the hotel, which we took to get to the main drag of bars/restaurants. Everything at Mi Amor was seamless. The only tiny complaint was that because you’re by the ocean, you could hear the wind through the hotel room (creaking at night) but we were used to it by the second night. Gracias, Mi Amor!”
“Our 6 night stay at Mi Amor was an exceptional experience. The hotel rooms and bathrooms are beautiful, clean, comfortable and spacious. Our room (16) felt very private and had a lovely view of the ocean sunrise. The staff remembered our names after our first day and we were treated so well by everyone, especially Edwin and Jonny (a very special thank you to them both). The property is beautifully maintained and has many queen-sized day beds that are positioned on the rocks overlooking the rocky shoreline. We loved the view and the privacy of the setting. Every day we either walked to the beach or rented bikes to ride to farther away beach clubs along the Tulum road. We enjoyed visiting the different settings and scenery of each spot. The benefit of Mi Amor is that it is not amongst the busy beach hotels and so if you are seeking true relaxation and privacy then this is your place. It is very easy to access the ruins and the other restaurants in Tulum by taxi or bike. We also walked a couple of times when we felt like taking our time, We booked a romantic couples massage on our first full day and it was a great way to dive into relaxation mode. Karina and Maria were very skilled massage therapists and incredibly kind. The breakfast is included and was substantial enough that we rarely ate lunch and only needed a mid afternoon snack before a late dinner. The menu was varied enough to keep each meal interesting and the food was of very high quality. They made terrific cocktails as well and happily served both food and drink to the daybeds on the rocks. We took advantage of their borrow a book collection and played the board games that they had for guests to use as well. We will absolutely return and will tell as many people as possible to go, because it truly is a very special place.”
Relaxation in Tulum
“This was our first visit to Tulum and we are converts now. First off, Tulum is a magical place and thankfully it knows it’s strengths and plays to them. Hotel Mi Amor could not be more beautifully situated. You walk in and you are struck by the vista over the rocks and out to sea. They have put super comfortable “beds” on the rocks so you can take it all in and feel as though you are floating. You will see an occasional iguana sun itself on a nearby rock. You are definitely connecting with nature and the sea at this place. BUT you are also pampered with lovely service and spacious and very comfortable air conditioned rooms. Some of them have plunge pools so if like that, go for those rooms. It is a luxury boutique hotel experience in a very natural and eco conscious place. Their chef uses local ingredients and the food is fresh and flavorful. Eating on the terrace in the morning, over the sea is just delicious. They do not have a sandy beach so you would need to travel off property for that . If you are interested in being private and pampered, this is a place you should look at!”
Most beautiful hotel in Tulum!!!
“Amazing hotel in the rocks, the most romantic one so perfect for couples! The design is so beautiful, food is great, rooms are modern (feels good to be in a room not completely in wood and tree suck as the ones found usually in Tulum) and the staff is lovely!
There is no beach as the hotel is in the rocks so I would recommend to spend a couple of days there. But you can fully enjoy the pool and private jacuzzi 🙂 ask for a room with it!
Would go back there for sure it has been my favorite place in Tulum!”
A great stay!
“We had an incredible stay, starting with the transportation from the airport that was arranged by the hotel. The driver was friendly, spoke English, and was waiting precisely where he said he’d be, (though he didn’t have beer as promised, we did stop for some). The hotel staff were wonderful, accommodating and really helpful planning our days in Tulum. The restaurant was also great! Breakfast was included daily and they had vegan and veg options for us everyday (and fresh juice!). There isn’t a good swimming beach on site, but the public beach was a short walk down the road and Boa beach club is right next door. We will be back!!!!!”
ROMANTIC BOUTIQUE HOTEL; HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
“Mi Amor is the perfect private getaway with your loved one. Choosing to stay here was an overall rejuvenating experience. It’s great especially for couples but adults with children over 16 are also welcome. Set against the Caribbean Sea, Mi Amor looks stunning. Our room was clean and it also came with a private outdoor jacuzzi with egg swing. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and we looked forward to it each day. Service was incredible and my husband and I cannot wait to go back.”
“This is an incredible hotel!! Probably the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at, and I travel A LOT! The customer service is amazing! They were so welcoming, treated you like family. Everyone was so nice! The property itself is gorgeous. We stayed in a jungle view room the first night, which was really pretty. If you join as a member of Small Luxury Hotels (which is free to join), you have the opportunity for early check in, late check out, and room upgrades. They upgraded us from the jungle room to the Sea view with plunge pool for free. WOW!! That room was AMAZING!!! So beautiful. We stayed in room 16, which is more secluded than the other rooms. The breakfast was so delicious!! Salmon, eggs benedict, huevos rancheros…soo good! Our breakfast was included with our hotel stay. You can rent bikes on the property as well. We rode bikes up to the Tulum Ruins, then to downtown, then back to the hotel. We will definitely be returning to Tulum and staying at this hotel. We also stayed at El Pez, one of their sister hotels, which was also beautiful and recommended.”
